peek-a-boo?

Postby jackleg » Dec 13th, '09, 18:32

Am I going crazy??? I am almost certian I've seen a glimpse device (for want of a better description) that uses post-it's and a felt pen??? Obviously I can't find anything to meet the description online but I don't tend to scour the web as much as some do. Any help as usual would be greatfully received.

Could it be Andi Gladwin's Peeked Too Soon? It's a billet peek that uses Post-it notes and you can find it in Mindblasters 2.

It depends on if it's a pure peek or some other system. I just saw a thing advertised that sounds similar to what you mention here but I'm not plugging it until I know it's not a rip-off of John Rigg's Post-It Pad device (I think he calls that one a cricket??? I don't know)

There's also Koran's Master Gimmick which works in conjunction with the Center Tear that can be done with a Post It Pad rather than a match box but nothing else comes to mind.

Sean Fields in Explicit Content describes a clever peek based on Post-It notes, but not involving a felt-tip pen.

Nick Einhorn's word in a million book test uses post-its and a sharpie. And, y'know, a book.

After reading this thread this morning I've had this accursed tune going round in my head all day:

Now you all can have it too.

Barry

Just noticed this is my 500th post. Do I get a prize?

For my 500th post, I got a "prize" from Mandrake and couldn't sit down for a week afterwards. Good luck, Barry.

Thanks for the thread so far (and now i have a crazy song in my head to boot! But still, if it stops the voices...!)
Still not quite what I have in my memory but John Riggs device looks good never the less.
Perhaps what i recall may change the direction of thought? The post-it notes were in a black "flip" wallet ie very simple single fold style and for some reason was held shut by the performer wrapping an elastic band around it (peek moment?) But what I distinctly remeber was the use of a sharpie.
Everything else followed a standard routine: Spectator writes a 4 digit PIN number on a post it... peels off and keeps their copy... the Thought Magician takes back wallet, wraps the elastic band around and then reveals number. As usual - the lay ones went wow and I got internaly frustrated at the lack of presentation and that the mind reading effect didn't marry in with the performers other magic or style. Since then I've looked (with little enthusiasm) for a simerlar effect.
meanwhile thank you all again for your advice.

Sounds like Thought Transmitter. Have a look at the Parkinson video here:

(Great performance of AAA Book Test too.)

Barry

(Sorry about the song.)

fantastic response from everyone so again I say thank you. It's reassuring to know I'm not going (too) crazy. Looks like the winner is the thought transmitter. Now to flex the credit card... any reccomended stores?
