Just like all of your topics Eshly! Nothing but brilliant maturity.

They have absolutely no moral or ethical right to, yet nobody was up in arms about that.

I'm not certain on that front given who publishes that magazine and their role in the industry. The Castle has one of the most extensive library trusts on the planet and in some instances that I'm aware of, the blessing of the originators to actually publish materials... and though Genii is viewed (on one hand) as a separate entity, it is still owned and handled by the Larsen family (I believe it's Dante Larsen that's still heading up things), just as it's been for three generations now e.g. it is part of the Castle's influence in our world.

Too, as a corporation the Castle/Genii and similar institutions will look at what they can get away with that is "Legal" but not necessarily "ethical"... kind of ironic given how things were within that group prior to Bill's passing (it's just not what it was).

The last thing to weigh in this case is the political weight of the Castle and how exceptionally few on the planet would want to endanger their standing, as it were, for stepping on the wrong political toes.

Craig,

Richard Kaufman has been publishing Genii for eleven years now. That glaring mistake makes the rest of your post somewhat redundant.

Take care, Ian

Oi, 'Genius'!

You don't need need money to start things off. You've got a venue. Have you a back room for magicians to gather?

Announce a get together, date, time etc. See what happens.

Everbody and their cousin is organising a website. Very few have a venue to make things happen.

Go for it.

I know Richard is the listed publisher, but I also know (from first hand reports) that Dante Larsen is still involved with the publication, and if I'm not mistaken, Richard is very much a part of the Castle's archives and library system.

You are very much mistaken, on both points.

Dante hasn't had much to do with Genii for years - Erica was at the helm for several years before Richard bought it. Also, the Genii office is in DC and the Castle in California. I'm unaware of Richard being involved in the Castle's running, but I can always ask. In all our conversations about Genii over the years, Dante has never been mentioned.

Take care, Ian

Look, I don't mean to negate what you're saying Ian, I'm going by what people that still go to the Castle every now and then (from my days there) have told me in the past year... please don't shoot the messenger! I stopped buying all the magic based publications years ago, when they exchanged solid articles for more ad-space.
