I've actually seen more than a few such notices over the years BUT in defense of the Psychics (stop moaning)... they aren't weather forecasters (who also have frequent "off" moments... this past week my town was supposed to get hit with nearly 10 inches of snow which never arrived... after all the hype & drama by the National and Local weather services).
Too, as I've pointed out numerous times, there is a huge difference being being "Psychic" vs. being a "Prophet"... the latter tends to be a title bestowed on folks in hindsight more than during their lifetime in that past-tense allows us to fit the prophecy into events

but there have been that handful of rare birds in recent history, who have proven themselves to be a bit exceptional in their accuracy... which isn't the point here btw.
In My Personal View (one shared by some noted figures in the psychic world, including Edgar Cayce) being Psychic is about 15% Intuition and 85% skill -- a thing that is learned and in some instances, natural to certain individuals more than others, the bulk of this skill centering on mental disciplines of awareness and "fine tuning" i.e. working exercises such a Saduko styled "therapy"; mental computation of mathematical equations, memorization of quality literature as well as philosophy... even learning new disciplines such as languages, art skills and logic challenges are all keys to becoming a legitimate "Psychic" vs. the more commonly focused on "delusional" and self-professed Seers.
Much of what I'm stating here is based on Hermetic tradition but likewise the processes taught in groups like the Rosicrucians (see Joseph Weed's book "
Wisdom of the Mystic Masters" for better insight).
True Psychic ability or "skill" mirrors most of what the old school Mentalists encouraged their students to learn, cultivate and perfect; not "trickery" as much as awareness and trusting their gut... as Millard Longman would say, "Just Doing It!" rather than thinking like a magician and wanting that guaranteed pay off.
I know, this don't explain all the Angel & Fairy talkers let alone the Mediums... things that fit an entirely different niche within the field we class as being "Psychic"... much of which is purely delusional while some (Mediumship) may very well have some kind of tangibility to it; again, I say this based solely on my personal experiences and nothing other.
Absolutely NONE of the things classified as being "Psychic" entail "powers" as many imply. The only power involved is mental processing and the power of knowledge coupled with awareness with the willingness to listen to your gut serving as the final "punctuation" point to it all.
I do not wish for this to turn into one of the classic Cynic vs. Psychic run-arounds that is not my purpose with this post. Rather, I hope to offer a bit of genuine perspective that may help folks understand that there is much more (and quite mundane factors at that) to the Psychic question, a lot of which actually sustains the mantra of the "Skeptic's" world; which is why I've always stated that both camps are just as right as they are wrong -- same thing but different by degree, as Hermes would have pointed out.
