Member's List?

Postby GoldFish » Mar 29th, '05, 22:05

In a similar vein to the <Click here to visit> theme, what's happened to the Members List at the top of the page?

All the best,

Excactly.

There used to be an option to view a list of all the registered members of this forum. Now its gone! Weird. And slightly spooky.

It's another change for security purposes. Under the old set up, anyone could access the members list and get e-mail details etc even without registering first. These days it's in the Admin Area and out of the public gaze, sorry.

Is there any chance in the future that some of the member details will be made public. I know on a couple of other forums you can elect as to whether certain details are for public viewing.
I think some sort of list with members' profiles is important - what we enjoy, favourite links etc. The profile under the avatar isn't really enough.

Unfortunately the list in the Admin Section gives even less detail than the Profiles - just the name, date joined and latest activity date. There's a link for more info but that leads to their Profile which is the same one we can all access. Showing more information would depend very much on what the individual members want to publish about themselves, not everyone puts and age or a skill level so perhaps they prefer to keep some details private?

What we really need is a skill level like "OA" - you can do thumb fans and think you can do triple flip-over pass invisible palm twiddleythingy wotsit one-handed cuts with fan display and extraneous 'spooky' music. This applies to me perfectly (Elmsley, Erdnase CC, Pendulum cut...)

If you didn't get it, OA = overambitious...

To save any confusion, the TM Welcome Message includes the following:

Age and Status in your Profile
To help other members form a more visual picture, it would be nice to include your age and 'magic status' as a small signoff in your profile.

We're standardising this to an additional bit of info in the Location panel in your profile... and the format is

(??A : ??S) where as the ??A = your age, and the ??S = your status, chosen from the list below...

EN = Eager Newbie
AH = Amateur Hobbyist
SH = Skilled Hobbyist
WP = Working Professional
CP = Career Professional

So, for example - your Location could be

"Kent, UK, (30:WP)", meaning you're a 30 year old working pro...

This is NOT obligatory, but may help during conversation!
