I've noticed that Bicycle has stopped labeling(at least here in America) decks as Rider Back. They have begun labeling them "Standard."

I tried a pack labeled as Standard and compared it to an old pack labeled as Rider Backs and it felt to me that the Standards were a bit more flimsy and unreliable that the Riders.

What I'm wanting to know, is that since I don't feel comfortable or secure in using the new "Standard" decks, what would be a good alternative to look for.

I must admit that it's been quite some time since I've actually attempted any type of magic, as I've been quite busy, so this difference I'm feeling could all be in my head. Anyway, any help you could give would be nice.

I use tally ho cards - i like them the best.

if you still want bicycles and you want to spend a bit more - is the bicycle master edition? deck still out?

I think it might just be in your head there flaw. I've got some bikes in the new packaging and find them to be just the same as any other.

Jing makes a point with the masters deck, though expensive its like using tallys but with a bicycle design. Which suits me as my ID deck is red bicycle stylee.

I'm wondering if USPCC switched to to a different and/or thinner stock. They also print the newly-released Phoenix Decks, and those are definitely thinner than my bikes in the box marked 'rider back.'

To me, this is a welcome change, as I find them easier to handle. My fiancee just bought me 2 packs of the new standards, so I'll have to crack them open and check them out.

I also like Tally-Ho cards, hopefully they haven't been affected by this change. I ordered some of those over a week ago and they haven't shown up yet. Aside from those, there's also Bees. Have you tried those as well? If you can't find either of them locally, they're always available on eBay.

ive gone over to Steamboats.

I prefer the boarder less design, because the cards flash less in a DL, and T.C :)

Good point, Dale. Never heard of those, but I guess Bees will do just as well?

I just checked my packs of the new 'standard' Bikes. They do feel different; probably thinner like the Phoenix ones are. They may have switched paper to help cut down costs, although I'm just speculating.

I think once your hands get used to them you won't mind nearly as much. If you find you still don't like them, I would check amazon and eBay and try to scoop up as much of the old stock as you can find.

Walgreens and Rite Aid in my area still have some last I checked, I'd start there if you're near any.

Thanks guys.

I'm slowly getting more comfortable with them, but I think I'm still going to try some Bee and Tally-ho decks. Appreciate the help.

Flaw i thought i'd re-post and admit to being wrong on this one.

Since receiving more than a few decks from Santa over Xmas from various well wishers, i've realised the decks i rescue from the new packaging aren't as splendid as previously thought.

Admittedly Red Bikes are low quality anyway, but these are awful. So much so, I'm even about to test out the USPCC's pledge on the guarantee card. One deck i opened was just atrocious - i think Stevie Wonder was quality control that day. I actually had shards of card fall out of the packet as i removed the cards, and it didn't take long to find the cards those shards came from.

Deplorable.

In adition to the above, the all over backs have another usefull property. if you reverse one card in the deck, it stands out like a sore thumb.
Handy if your after that quick fix locator card. :)

I recently picked up a pack of Bees, they weren't the greatest things in the world, but I am enjoying them. Does anyone know if the masters editions are suffering from this lack of quality?
