Let's imagine that you don't offer the opportunity to the spec to build the model himself, but make it yourself instead in front of them, as close as possible to the gimmicked model, which you would then switch.

In this case there could be a mini-skeleton inside, with whatever piece of electronic / PK thing inside.

Maybe one for Tomo? :D

Hello! The problem is how to hide everything. Movement means power. Power means batteries. Batteries need hiding. As do motors and the circuit board itself.

How about the spectator making the putty man and in order to make it distinctive gives it a specific face.

Switch to robo-putty-man as you "Place him on a surface to walk on". Model walks away. Pick him up hand back spectators model for analysis.

I am sure Tomo will correct me if I am wrong here but I think bi-pedal walking is generally quite difficult to achieve in robotics due to the distribution of the weight and it's relative centre of gravity.

I imagine this as a clockwork bipedal movement. Those toys tend to have support bars that jut out from the left of the right foot and the right of the left foot in order to ensure they remain balanced when either foot is lifted. I don't see how you could create something similar without being very particular as to the leg design, unless you went down the IT route.

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

How about a little monkey?

You could put the clay man in to some sort of "life giving device" and turn it in to a little monkey. I know this takes the original effect off track slightly but if you then turn the monkey back in to the model the spectator made the attention is on the model not the device.

Reminds me of the 'Magic Robot' game I had as a young lad.

Oh.
My.
Giddy.
Aunt.

I had, and absolutely adored my magic robot game!!!

Wish i knew what happened to the intelligent little guy.

That's made me go all nostalgic for a better time. When bees were French and sticks tasted of Marmite.

^ I expect there's more than a passing resemblance (Robot, Little Man) between the two.

Do you remember Little Big Time on the tele? Early/mid 60s.

Ah, here we go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKXUJgRTs08

I brought that up because I remember playing magic robot at my friend's house while watching Little Big Time. It was quite surreal like a lot of children's tele was at that time. Freddie and the Dreamers hosted it and there was a robot that we thought was the magic robot from the game. It might have been late 60's or Early 70's though. I think it was Britain's answer to H.R Pufnstuf.

This routine is in, in, in god I can think what the mags called. Bizarre mag think there's 3 or 4 volumes to it.

Make a clay figure and then do some chanting and it walks and then it's head bursts into flames

ok, well it doesnt seem too bad but not a million percent bionic man great. I guess they are using a precious metal polymer clay which isnt so cheap(unless of course I'm thinking playdoh is magnetic in some other way).

The rotary widget in the claypot and the bag has to be fairly well made. Could see it as a really good talking point too, but you;d probably need to change it around once it became a signature event then you'd also need some multiple performance versions as well. Saying that, the 1 of 4 card thing looked fun. You could do this for kids and make them scream more than a bag of smarties and cola could LOL. In a pub or fast paced bar it would die.

I've bought one on pre-order, doesnt everyone just do that to find out how things work? Its not like $300 is exactly expensive!

In fact I bought the original mag with the routine in, £1.75 not bad for a routine better then a £250 one.

Now what's the mag called, in, in, invocations?

This sounds interesting... Hope you're able to remember; in the mean time, I'll search around as well on the web, maybe I'll accidentally stumble upon something. :)

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.
