I have searched for reviews on loops but can only find some quite old stuff. Is there anything recent anyone can recommend for a complete beginner to IT?

One word of advice from someone who prides himself on IT work (when he cares too), do NOT buy Mensika Elastic Loops, they are far too thick and visible; and can clearly be seen.

Infinity thread V2 is good for most situations, with Infinity V1 being even more invisible (but a bit too weak in my opinion).

Contrary to Eshly's experiences, I found Yegal Mesika's loops to be of very good quality and reliable.

It's been a while since I used them but I would stick my neck out and recommend them.
