Hahaha, that makes it sound like they are fearful about it like "What is that thing shuffling towards us?!"

Close, it's Uncontrollable rather than Unnecessary as all things in magic are necessary (superb excuse to keep on buying!)...

I hate to break it to you all, but this is a term that's been around a heck of a long time, and memory serving me right it was first introduced by one of the better known wives of a famous mage... might have been Jan Jones but I'm uncertain.

What I do know is that the spouse tends to be more disgusted by the addiction factor than we, the guilty parties.

Sorry Craig you are wrong (and it's not often anyone can say that) - I came up with CUPS myself. Here is the original thread from Jan 27 2004
http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic2676.p ... e+syndrome

Quite possibly, people have been talking about it for years - the "disorder" certainly existed long before I named it - but as far as I know - the term CUPS is original to me.

Maybe it should be CUPS (tm) and I should get a royalty for everytime it was used? Actually as it was first coined on TalkMagic, maybe it should be CUPS tm (tm)...
