Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I think Tomo was wondering how you manage to destroy 'hundreds' at a time to make it necessary for you to make so many.

lol, hundreds at a time, just seems so funny.
I have founbd with a pack of Bicycle Seconds from magicbox(.uk.com) are often printed slightly to the side ot to the top/bottom. Which means it is even. but, people wont notice a milimetre off the top of a card. I tried a milimetre off the side, works just as well if not better. Less predictable aswell.

I just bought a brick of Bicycles from www.cards4magic.co.uk and they are very obviously seconds. And, no, they weren't sold as such!

These cards are not just off by a millimeter or so. Oh, no. These cards are off both horizontally AND vertically, and the white border at the top is TWICE the border at the bottom.

Not pleased.

Maybe it's not their fault? It's not like they can open every box and check. Even so, I'm going to buy from elsewhere next time, just in case.

Anyhow, I just mention this in response to jokerdan's comments about using factory seconds. If the factory seconds are off both long edge and short edge, or if they're off by, say, 4mm (I haven't actually measured), the cards won't be much good even for this purpose.

course they will...thats 2mm either side...no problem at all...YOU may notice, but the punters wont...

love short cards, still can't get over the OP's question though...

You can't fail to notice, it's completely obvious the moment you look at them. Punters notice all the time. It's far more than 2mm, if the border is twice as thick at one edge than at the other. I haven't got a ruler with me so I can't measure it.

I agree with Iain.

Also consider looking at cheap cards from Tesco, Morrisons etc... They are completely awful but are still cards. People look at the value and suit, not the border (if one exists).

And further to other posts about how Bicycles have supposedly gone downhill - I started out practising and performing with Waddingtons Number One cards. They are a different size and feel to Bikes. And yet I had no problem moving to Bikes later when I needed to (gaff issues). And I have small hands etc etc etc.

Instead of hundreds of short ones, why not just buy one or two long ones and carry on using standard decks
