Beat the Wand 2010

Postby Andrew James » Dec 11th, '09, 23:42

Hi guys. Beat the Wand is back! We want it to be bigger and better than ever but that is only possible with your help.

We want a magical flavour to the night but are particularly interested in increasing the variety aspect of the show.

Juggling, Escapology, Contortian, Geek Magic, Bizzare, Occult, Mind Reading, Ventriloquism, Mouth Juggling, World Record Attempts.... etc

We know you guys are out there!!!

If you are interested in performing here are the rules...

* Your act must last a minimum of three and a maximum of five minutes.

* Three giant wands will be thrown into the audience. After an act has performed for one minute the "voting" begins. Once a wand holder has seen enough of your act they will place their wand in the air. If three wands are in the air the act will stop.

* If an act reaches three minutes they are safe and will be allowed to finish their act.

* The act who performs for the longest and/or completes their act will have "beat the wand" and therefore be the winner. In the event of more than one performer completing their act, the audience will decide the winner.

* Performers will be supplied with a hand or lapel mic, a table and two chairs. There are no cameras or screens in the bar so close-up/table magic will not be suitable.

If you are interested, or know someone with a crazy act who would love to be involved then please contact

beatthewand@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks guys

Andy

Hi guys. Last call for any entrants for this years beat the wand.

We've a nice mix of acts, styles and a few surprises along the way, but would like a couple of extra acts to balance the show out.

We've also included a couple of sections in the first and second half for some exciting "audience participation record breaking attempts" so you may end up being the star of the show without even planning it!

If you have something quirky/alternative/outside the box to offer then get in touch or if you know someone who can give the audience 5 minutes of something they have never seen before then we would love to hear from them.

Remember a sub-genre/branch of magic will have a better chance of winning than an ambitious card or professors nightmare routine for that crowd and venue.

So get in touch and be part of the madness!!!

(Please note this competition is for Convention Attendees only)

Thanks

Andy
