Spooked VHS and Gimmicks

Postby Stephen Ward » Mar 31st, '05, 17:44

The Effect

A deck of cards are handed to the spectator to be examined and shuffled. You take the cards back and fan them out so the spectator can take a card. The card can be signed and is then put back in the deck. You now put the deck on the floor (I put the deck on the floor whilst standing but you can be sitting down). The cards now cut themselves and the choosen card (or even several choosen cards) jump out of the pack. All the cards are picked out and can be examined.

Cost

approx £60 either from http://www.jbtv.co.uk or most leading stores.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review

I have had spooked for over a year now and i never do a booking without performing it. Some people have a slight problem with being left clean but with practise you can round that easily. The VHS teaches you how to use the gimmicks and perform spooked. This effect does take a lot of practise (unless you are familar with the supplied gimmick). When performed correctly this effect really shocks people.

The routine is by Nicholas Einhorne and the rumor is that the price is high because he did not want to let the secret go. The video is presented well and is clear to follow. The instructions are very good and you get a couple of booklets with the package.

If you purchase this remember to practise this well, it is not easy as it looks. With practise you can have three cards selected. Put them in different parts of the deck and they jump out one at a time.

Overall

8/10
