I have AVG virus protection always on and windows XP firewall enabled.
Why do I still get infected with some Trojan horses?
I check for updates every day so I am sure I am up to date.

Sadly there is no anti virus software that can detect all known viruses.
Its an 80/20 rule. All anti-virus products will detect the 20% of viruses that cause 80% of the infections. Some products are better at finding obscure viruses in the last 20% than others.
AVG is a free anti virus.
In my opinion one of the best free anti-virus products but I think you will be more successful with a paid-for antivirus service.

Same here. Another user did the same thing before Christmas. Vague intro posted to lots of forums, simplistic posts. Probably the same person.
