Black Tiger Cards

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

As you know I'm a rank amatuer at all this but I used the white 3 of clubs with the DL :

Double lifted to show the black 3 of clubs
Placed the top card (white version) face down on the table
Ribbon spread the deck next to the face down card and face up to highlight the blackness of it
and mentioned that the audience (my wife!) needed to focus so she wouldn't miss a trick...and flipped over the card onto the ribbon spread deck to show it was white

okay basic stuff I know but it made for a very visual effect and she was shocked at the transformation which was nice

(Incidently this was at the end of my first ever 'routine' which I did for my wife to celebtrate a special event.)

With regards to the spare cards I typically remove the jokers and any spare cards from decks and keep them seperate. I guess the 3 or the ace could be reintroduced into the pack under cover of 'replacing the jokers' which could be done quite openly.

A valid point raised concerning the removal of the Jokers here...

The guise of removing these 'useless' cards can facilitate ALL SORTS of moves... for instance, you can have the deck shuffled, returned to you, and in the guise of you hunting for the jokers to remove them, you can cull cards to the face/bottom.

Particularly useful in the Black Deck effects.

I've only come up with this ....sorry

Show the top card slowly, a normal Ace, which is then lost in the deck. Tell the spectator that when they snap their fingers, the lost card will come to the top of the deck at an unimaginable speed. On a count of three, let them snap their fingers and immediately tap the top card hard. Reveal it and say, "Well, the shock must've been huge for this card. Look, the shape..."

Same goes for the inverted Three of Clubs. Spread the cards so that they see the cards are supposed to be "White number on black back". Lose the normal 3C in the deck, tap the top card, reveal a 3C the colour of which is inverted.

Another one. Use DL and show a normal Ace. Shake the top card in mid air, and reveal that the shape has twisted.

I have the Bicycle Tiger Gaff Deck, with loads of cool cards, Warped Ace of Spades (Different to Twisted Ace), Blank Cards, Double Backed / DF, cards mixed with regular coulored cards, irregular pipped cards.
I've made up a few routines, for...
the card with the scratch across the face,
The faded pips card, and the Ace of Spades, with the Skull, instead of a centre pip.
