Raven Help please

Postby Yano » Feb 16th, '10, 12:02

Hi i've bought the raven agesssssssss ago, but i've really neglected to use it since it seemed too much of a on time thing. But then i realized it has great effects that it can achieve. I've got the dvd and watched through it but the set up they show is only shirt and suits. So recently I thought of using a waist/belt as a set up. This to me seems much more convenient for me to reset and to get into it. I have no idea if this way is good with angels or not since i have never used pulls before. But if anyone can help me out with some tips with this kind of setup that would be great.

The angles will depend on where you are performing. The belt option is no good for sitting at a table, for example, but fine if you are stood surrounded by people close to you. Less good if they are at a distance. Etc...

the best way to figure out angles is by using the magicians best friend ( the mirror!), the problem with the mirror though is it creates artificial angles, or angles no one will ever be looking from...

The mirror is the magicians enemy! What if your spectator is at a bit of an angle? Then what do you do???!

You could get loads of mirrors and have them at different angles :D

So a magicians best friend is a badly constructed hall of mirrors?

Now y'see... Normally I wouldn't disagree with that statement old bean... But as I'm learning coins at the moment the mirror is proving invaluable. It's helping me to notice when I'm making glaring errors...

what im saying is, dont use your mirror to figure out angles, use it to figure out natural-ness...

Take care with those mirrors. I've noticed a few things about those who practice using mirrors. One you tend to be looking at your hands when you are making the 'mistakes', not at the mirror. Second is during the actual performance I find magicians tend to look at their hands or where the mirror might be if there was one rather then look in the eye of the spectator. A mirror is great for learning the effect, but go to video for actual rehersal of the effect.
