How to wear a PK ring - fashion?

Postby Contrabass101 » Feb 22nd, '10, 18:54

Hey everyone,

Because I became more or less screwed when worldmagicshop changed ownership last year, I have been given a £50 voucher for their Wizard Range products.

I consider getting a PK ring, but an unsure how to wear it, and whether I will be able to wear it at all.

Since I am not married, it should not look like a wedding ring, but at the same time I don't want it to look suspicious. However, I don't see many single guys (apart from magicians) wearing rings around here, so I am a little doubtful about the whole thing. My clothing style is rather odd already, but a ring is still a little flashy, isn't it?

I used to wear mine as a thumb ring, but getting anywhere near anything ferric was a nightmare.

I used to wear mine on my left index (first) finger all the time. nobody said anything. Apart from magicians of corse.

Also be aware that if you do intend to wear it "all the time" credit/cash cards don't like PK rings and should not be mixed. ever.

pulling out a handfull of loose change with the occasional copper coin stuck to it also tends to get funny looks from shop keeps.
They also tend to tarnish and scratch. So my advice (from experience) is use it as a prop. don't wear it all the time but as and when you feel you may need it.

I wore mine just every so often, people get accustomed to seeing it and strangers dont really pay any attention to it at all. If you suddenly start wearing a ring all the time, people you know will likely ask what that is about. I just told them it was a joke gift from my brother but I took a shine to it, end of discussion!

Oh, my piece of advice. Dont drop the bloody thing. Make sure it fits well. Mine dropped onto the kitchen floor last week and split clean in half. The Wizard PK's are good though, I will be purchasing one again.

Also tip keep it away from your mobile phone!!!

I wear mine on my middle finger but only when I need to use it, like most things people don't tend to notice it as much if you slip it on do a couple pk tricks then it disapears again.

In all honesty people don't look for it, the worst thing to do is mention it as it will draw attention to it. Don't run unless your being chased

You could always try to find a normal finger ring that looks similar and wear that most of the time so people get used to seeing it on you. When your planning on doing a bit of PK trickery, swap them over, possibly in your trouser pocket. When your finished, swap them back again, nobody will be any the wiser. Just don't spend too much time rooting around in your pockets, it kind of detracts from your work!

Am i the only one who cant see the logic behind this?
I know many that will tell you that a wedding ring is a powerfull fanny magnet.

In this case quite literally.

I've just bought a PK ring and am going through the same qualms. I never wear rings normally, so it feels odd to wear one, which makes me think it stands out to everybody else. But of course it doesn't. People wear rings all the time, and plain bands don't attract attention.

I intend to wear it around the house from time to time to get used to it, but can't until I get a ring sizer. Although I bought the small size, it's still too big for my dainty digits.

Aha I have the answer to your problems...I was always getting money and all sorts stuck to my PK. So I got fed-up and took it off. It always seemed I then required it whenever I didnt have it so, I added it to my silver necklace that Ive not taken off in 15 years. Its something that anyone who knew me knew I wore, and being silver itd doesnt attract the magnet! Plus a lot of people wear rings on necklaces that might have a meaning to them etc (room for an effect there).

So I now always have my pk on me and can always take it off quickly if any impromtu pk is needed! :D hope that helps.

I'm sure I remember getting an email about somewhere doing black wizard PK rings. Interested me because I've always worried about the whole wedding ring thing too...

Just checked through my emails, it was Magic World - http://magicworld.co.uk/magic-shop/prod ... at=&page=1

Pretty tempted, but I don't fancy wiping my bank cards and mobile :s
