Postby Garyz » Apr 7th, '05, 12:06

The Effect

Spectator picks card, Magician pushes cig through the card.

Cost
Around £7-8, depending on type of card and source.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review

I purchaced the double ended version, this enables you to push the ciggi through the card in more than the one place. DL and/or T.CH are required depending on style.
Quite a nice little trick, good quality, only thing that i had a problem with is the thickness of the card.

Avaliable in blue or red bike.

Wow factor

7.5/10

I must admit I own no 'aardvarked' cards of any sort, other than those used in 'Threesome', which, to be fair, I haven't used in months.

It had never occured to me about the thickness of some types of aardvark cards - is this a problem that anyone has found before? Would a spectator be looking more closely at a card that you're pushing a cigarette through? Or does the DL or switch really cut all the problems out?

The DL adds to the thickness. If you can get a T.CH done then the problem is sorted. but they have their eye on the card all the time, so youve got to be cunning quick jack flash.

Oh I see (said the blind man to the deaf man), it's not the gimmicked card itself, it's the DL.

Glad we got that cleared up.

Have to say I've never been too much of a fan of penetration-type effects...

What reactions do you get from it? Just cos I'm not a fan - doesn't mean it doesn't go down well with specs...

I may have to change my preferences - after all the customer is always right!

Honestly (strange for me, I know), there was no sarcasm whatsoever involved in the post. I promise.

I asked if the gimmicked card used for the penetration was thicker than the other cards, as that is how I interpreted your original post.

Then, you wisely replied telling me that the DL was where the 'thickness' issue arose.

That then meant (stick with me here) that my original thought on the problem you have with the 'thickness' of the effect was incorrect, and was to do with the sleight, NOT with the card itself. As I said, I don't own any gimmicked cards, you see.

I'm sorry if it appeared sarcastic, but I was just relaying the fact that I now understand your original post.

Nice one, as ive only had the card a few days ive not gone public so to speak, but so far so good. i think the Cig thru card is better than the coin mainly because ive seen too many people with the thru coins. Its a change.
