Memorised deck help?!?!

Postby IrieMagic » Mar 1st, '10, 20:31

I don't know much about any memorised decks. I know a few applications of them but I was wondering if someone could tell me some more. I want to know wether it will be worth taking the time and effort to learn it.

Also could someone recommend a memorised deck. I'm not sure if I'm right but are there different types of them, like mnemonic and mathematical.

Thanks
Any help is much appreciated.

The best stacked deck to start with is probably Si Stebbins. It's easy to learn and has some very useful properties. People say the order is obvious, but that's because they already know the order. Unless you let them closely examine the deck, specs never spot it.

Thanks
What effects are possible with this stack? Apart from just knowing the spectators card

Darwin Ortiz uses a memorised deck. He says that anyone who spends too long trying to decide which deck to memorise ends up with analysis paralysis. He says that there's a good reason why it's hard to tell the difference between Mnemonica and Aranson: there's no practical difference betweeen the two. Just go ahead and learn one.

See you in couple of years ...

For most of the tricks it really doesn't matter which MD you learn because they work with every stack.

Some people advice to just shuffle the deck and then memorize it. But why I don't know...it's not like it's easier to remember that way. So you can just choose one, which has already some applications built in. Which one, that depends on your personal preference.

For example, with the Aronson Deck you can do some Poker Routines. I didn't really care for that, so I chose the Tamariz Deck because you can, with a few shuffles, set it up from a new deck order, which is nice.

But like already said, just choose one and start learning it today. You can do amazing stuff with it. It is definetly worth it!!!
