Whats the spookiest thing to have ever happened to you?

Postby taffy » Mar 2nd, '10, 22:04

A while ago,( Well, maybe a few years ago now!) I think it was Mr Bell who started a thread, about ghosts!

Thats made me thin, and I was wondering what is the most spookiest/Creepy thing that has ever happened to you in a parnormal/ unexplainable way?

(PS, when I mean scariest, I don't mean meeting your future in laws for the first time! )

I wish someone would post something that made me thin.

But, as to spooky & creepy... I think they are two different things entirely... the most Creepy thing I've ever dealt with was helping exposing a "sex slave" situation in Tampa, Florida long ago... not paranormal but certainly abnormal.

Creepy in the paranormal way?

:? I can't find the link presently, but I shared the story of when my family moved into a 180 year old farmstead in the Ohio Valley only to find out that it was listed as one of the most haunted private homes in the state. The irony being that we were touring an historic home 20 + miles from ours and in talking with the guide she started asking us about specific manifestations and if we'd seen or experienced them as well... when confirmed she gave us the address of the home and a history around it... breaking out one of the ghost story books they sold in their little tour store and showing us not just the complete story, but a photo of the house as well (insert Twilight Zone music here).

I've dealt with all kinds of "Hauntings" over the years, some that proved quite interesting, but this place took the cake. Fortunately, only one of the entities we encountered had a more aggressive attitude... our only other complaint about the situation was the 3a.m. piano playing and sign alongs that came from a room where no piano exists

We've got a resident ghost here, and one afternoon he laid a hand on my shoulder. JUMP!! Not spooky as such, but VERY startling. I got the impression he was sorry for having scared me so badly. I asked him not to do it again.

Colin once saw a headless horseman in Dorset. It was the dead of night and this caped highwayman-type rider came galloping down the road. He looked strange, and Col turned to take another look at the man as he rode away, but he'd vanished. There was nowhere he could have turned off the roadway. Col says he wasn't obviously headless because of the cape, but he couldn't see a head, and the horse's hooves weren't really touching the ground.

Col's brother and some friends heard a troop of Roman soldiers at the site of a Roman camp, also in Dorset.

Late one night while walking through fields I once saw a cow that looked like it had a skeletal head. Of course, my rational mind told me that it was just a friesian in the moonlight, but despite that and despite watching it my irrational side gave me nightmares for weeks.

I was once staying at my sisters house and was sleeping on the couch, would have been about 12. For some reason I woke up in the middle of the night and, wanting to know the time, looked over at the video player. I could not see it, in my sleepy state my mind decided the most logical reason for this must be that someone was standing between me and the video in the dark. Burglar!

Like a brave little boy I slid silently back under the covers and poked my head out a few moments later. Still no sign of video but I assumed the burglar had taken it. I heard a noise in the kitchen and summing up my courage I slipped off the couch, picking up something ridiculous to use as a weapon (a lamp I think) and entered the kitchen to find... nothing, just the cat.

Turns out it was a power cut but I have never s**t myself so much in my life. Oh apart from when I once experienced sleep paralysis. That panicked me witless at the time!

Sorry, there was a misspelling in your original post and it struck me as amusing!

Ok mine is as a night carer, no-one has died in room 5 for the last 12 years unless i have been with them on night duty. Its my room of death. Although I haven't worked there for 12 consecutive years, ive done a few and moved on and gone back (four times actually) when they need help. But in all of those 12 years, they have waited for me to die in my arms. It is very odd.

Sounds weird up until the 3 AM piano and singing. after awhile, it would seem common place and you'd just treat it like an annoying tenant. "Go to bed! People are trying to sleep!"
