Disneyland Magic Shop-Houdinis

Postby theseer » Mar 15th, '10, 19:50

Before I begin let me say I am a huge fan of Disney, and not so much of Houdini's Magic Shop. When I first heard the news that Disneyland would cease to run the Magic shop and instead lease it out to Houdinis I was furious. But... The Mainstreet Magic shop was laacking...well...magic. So I waited it out. Well now, Houdinis has finally settled into the Mainstreet Location and...ITS MARVELOUS! Bravo! Houdini's Magic, for bringing the Magic back onto Mainstreet. Although I may not be a magician (I am a charlatan by trade  ), nor a child, I continue to spend my holidays not on rides, but chatting with the performers in the shop (even if they may not be Disney employees). Finally after many years, the magic shop has been revived. So here is my warm congrats to Houdini's Magic Shop.

I assume it's the Florida one however, now I'm not sure...

But if you're down in Florida, Daytona Magic is really good.

No unfortunately I am speaking of the original Disneyland of california as opposed to the Magic Kingdom of the florida wetlands. But yes daytona magic would be worth a trip also! I don't believe there is a magic shop within the parks in florida, except for a MagicMasters in downton disney. The magicmasters sells basic tricks but the performers are lively and entertaining.

A couple of months ago, I went on my last, annual free trip to the California Disneyland (with my highschool marching band-- we had to perform for about 15 minutes) and spent over an hour of that time at the Houdini's shop. While there, I started talking to one of the magicians working there and he showed me several routines (fooled the hell out of me). I was happy when he complimented my bottom deal and SWE Shift and he even asked for a video of the latter.

I got his business card for his email address, and looked him up when I got home. Apparently, I had an hour conversation with Geno Munari, the president of Houdini's without even knowing it...

Hay Taffy - there's a magic shop near Disney World in Florida. It's in Downtown Disney on the west side - Magic Masters. Nice people working there, too.
