I don't think it is the fault of magic generally but that of the individual performer who is trying out this experiment. It is he who needs to sharpen up a bit rather than magic generally.

A lot of interesting, regular pub events are being set up, but especially in the North West. Literature in the pub, philosophy in the pub, science in the pub, scepticism in the pub... In places like Manchester and Liverpool, you can go to several a month. I love it. I'm lucky enough to be near a brewery pub that hosts a SciBar evening. It harks back to the great 19th century public lectures by people like Michael Faraday - but with overhead projectors.
