Swami Gimmicks:

Who uses these, how well do they work? What are some of the effects you pull of with them?

I use one quite a lot. Used correctly there are some really great effects. The best I can advise is to get a copy of 13 steps to mentalism - Corinda. The whole first chapter deals with this gimmick and some effects you can do with them. I bought a variation of the gimmick from Hank Lee's and it came with a book on how to use it and some effects.
Richard Osterland deals with it nicely on his Mind Mysteries series as well - can't remember which one - either 3 or 4.

I have not used them but watching the effects that taneous has gotten, I must say that they give some VERY good effects. Just dont use them on stage with people like taneous and me around. LOL. Right taneous?

Swami

Postby S_adamson1 » Mar 6th, '05, 21:12

One of the best tools that a mentalist can have. Swami writers allow you to predict the impossible, any number a spectator thinks of, the amount of change in their pocket, and many other gerat feats. I highly recommend this and for more information look at the vernet web site or email me at S_adamson1@hotmail.com

I have to agree. It is one of the best gimmicks a magician can have, even as versatile as the TT.

At its simplest you can do a simple prediction of a chosen number as did Blaine, using some of the techniques in 13 Steps you can go far further with such as the barcode effect and get a 10 to 15 minute stint out of one trick.

Anyone who doesn't use this gimmick should seriously consider it. Get 13 steps and start buying your small envelopes from the pound shop. You'll need them.

If you're interested - get hold of 13 steps to mentalism. As I said - it has a whole chapter on the subject - different kinds of swamis and a number of effects involving them.

Boon for mentalists

Postby Corona Smith » Apr 10th, '05, 00:51

The Boon type is the best in my opinion, although super sharpie looks good (i don't have one)

you can probably make your own.

Marvellous feats can be accomplished with a swami.

Without a doubt, the best swami is the under the thumbnail version converter from pencil (which no-one uses today) to biro.

Swami

Postby Corona Smith » Apr 12th, '05, 13:21

Hello Tenko,

I've not come across a biro swami, where might you procure one?

Thanks in advance,

Corona.

Corona,

I've never come across one for sale. But, if you get your trusty swami and remove the lead. Then obtain a biro refil, a penknife and some pliars, I'm sure that you will realise what to do 8)

I found the s gimmick really good. As you can do almost any prediction with it the results are awesome. 13 steps is also another great buy.
