Hi guys,

I am being interviewed for my companys magazine (Royal Bank Of Scotland) next week as they are interested in what I do. I want to do an effect for the interviewer and was hoping for some suggestions. I want it to be a mentalism effect, but one that can be explained in writing easily. I want an effect with a display of Direct Mind Reading.
Any suggestions on how I can peek at some information but try to make them forget they wrote it down for maximum effect? I was thinking magicians graphology by Nyman as they HAVE to draw something and gives it a purpose? Any ideas please?

Magicians graphology is a truely great effect - but don't you need at least three spectators for it to be played out properly? will there be three people interviewing you?

If you want a drawing dupe - you could consider osterlinds ODDS.

As you know DieCipher2 is a favourite of mine, and I would probably go with that - maybe 3 times using a sligtly different method each time.

Maybe a suggestion routine like ESPerfect?

But you know what. You can never really beat the BCS in that sort of situation.

I suppose I will have to grab more people!! Some sort of design duplication sounds good, maybe a personal number like a pin number?

I also work for a financial institution and I find that tricks with money are popular and can fit into nearly every situation. Although I do enjoy mentalism, in this instance I try to select tricks that fit into the working environment as oppotunities are far more abundant and also relevant.

I do the old but still visually effective water from a £10 note using a TT to extract the water from the water mark. I perform this under the anti-money laundering angle (which I'm sure you will know)........

I ALWAYS get a reaction that makes it worthwhile. Pen thru note is also a good one.

Sticking to the mentalism theme for a moment - the Banachek PSI series is another great resource.

You could do the one where you borrow a note, put it in an envelope. Have them seal the envelope and sign it. then go on to do two effects.
one were the envelope is placed with 4 others and as you turn your back they keep switching two and you can still keep track of where the momey is. and then get them to open the envelope take out the money, and you can read the numbers...

I haven't explained it well, but if you know it you know it. if you know what I mean...

Insurance department - that opens you up to EVERY torn and restored effect available. I know it's not mentalism, but it'll make a nice cheesy headline for the interviewer!

Also, on the insurance front, how about some fork/spoon bending, using lines like: "Now here's a situation we don't insure for..."

I worked for NatWest when RBS took them over a few years back. I gave it up for a career in entertainment. I wish I still had those share options...

A prediction effect might be cool for the insurance dept - being able to gues the odds etc. Do some kind of sealed lottery prediction or headline prediction - there are a number in Corinda and Anneman's books.

Why not do a one ahead setup with any word from any title that they pick, Any object presented to you and any card picked by them.

Simple but effective.
