making tricked Dices

Postby luxeomni » Mar 20th, '10, 23:42

Ok i m searching for infos about making gimmicked dices, but not so they can always roll to the same number but i want to change de numbers on the faces, like there two side with 2 dots, so i can remove one number from them to make them never roll to that one cuz it doesn't exist ;)

Any ideas where i could find such materials to make them ?
i ve saw some already made like these but they re pricey !!

I had a couple of sets custom made by Steve from here...

He's very nice, and very helpful...

I've also used Highland Games for custom dice and found them to be reliable.

If you google dice makers you will come up with a few others.

Cards 4 Magic sells nice misnumbered dice with matching "proper" ones in case you want to switch them in. That's where I got mine.

I see they now offer a complete set, no one to no six, plus two ordinary ones, for £15. That's tempting.

I made my own set for a video. Each one had three 3's, two 5's and a six, and was also weighted internally towards a three. I know there are sets available ready made, but I had to try. Hardest thing was getting a large dice to open without the plastic cracking. I then had to use a round ended drill to turn the old 1 and 2 into threes, then paint the dice to make it look uniform, then paint in the dots. Lots of fun, lovely set, works great - but I'd certainly buy one of the pre-gimmicked sets next time!
