New Tron Film

Postby Lenoir » Mar 26th, '10, 17:46

Apologies if it has been posted elsewhere, but has anybody seen the trailer for the new Tron?

I saw it on TV a minute ago, and if you've seen the original, it will make you sit cross legged.

Most of the members on here would be too young to even know what you're on about there Klangy! :D

I thought I was the bee's knees when I had mine, no more loading up games via tape that made that God awful noise!

I was a speccy 48k man. Yes the loading times sucked but being able to fit about 18 games on a TDK 90 minute audio tape mean't I have about 200 games.
Ok they almost always crashed once the loading screen came up but that was part of the joy

 I have one of these in my loft along with about 6 games. I also have this orange box thing which i presume is from the early 70s. It is a 'tennis' game with a square 'ball' which bounces from one side of the screen to the other. The speed of the ball and the size of the bat (vertical line) can be varied. Anyone remember these :?:

Hmmm... in Tron, human beings were digitised and imported into computer software.

So, extrapolating wildly for the sake of a conclusion, each digitised human being - conscieousness and all - would probably fit snugly on a floppy disk.

That's efficient programming if ever I saw it!

...but the original film was rubbish. Can't stand all this fake nostalgia for something just because it's a few years old. Even worse is the forthcoming "A-Team" film. FFS - make something new Hollywood!

I'll admit that Tron bored me silly. But it was the single biggest inspiration for a whole generation of computer game designers at a time when computer games themselves were utter pants.

Tron turned the direction and fortune of Disney films onto a new and lucrative track - despite it being one of the worst films I ever rented on video!

I hope they actually cast "Tron Guy" to play himself this time and give this version some much needed credibility. What's the point of using flaky actors when you can have the real thing?

 A-Team

I fear this proof that Hollywood is in deep sheep dip... Hopefully it's not in 3-D

Tron in 3-D if it's good 3-D, might prove cool however.

and when it comes to getting all mushy about Tron, you must remember that like Star Wars, Tron & Last Star Fighter were amongst the first to exploit the whole CGI idea and share it with us. They're both historical pieces of cinema.
