They say:
Reveal any word chosen, from any puzzle!
A spectator opens the book to any page, selects any puzzle, concentrates on any word and....YOU REVEAL IT letter by letter, without "peeking," "fishing," or making any mistakes!
Know the answer to any clue on any page!
A spectator names ANY page number, ANY clue number and... YOU KNOW THE ANSWER without ever opening the book!
No memory work! No assistance! No way!
I say:
THIS…is something I have been waiting for. What a little gem!
"My Word" is brilliantly presented and packed full of presentation variants. One of the most logical, impromptu book tests ever! (IM[v]HO)
The book is totally convincing looking. It is made in America and so has a “.99c” price on the cover but I'm going to put on a "special offer" / "free pen included" sticker (or some such) from a UK magazine to cover the American price but apart from that (hell, even WITH that) it's more than ready to go.
It is about as examinable as B.I.P., Chronologue and many others, although this is not any kind of a hint as to the method. The spectator only handles the book after being given some simple and logical instructions. I wouldn't let people "examine" the book (a dangerous precident to set with ones spectators) but within the performance of the effect I feel confident in following Dan's guidance in presenting this innocent looking puzzle book to the spectator.
Basically, they have choices to make and that sells the effects brilliantly. It is worth mentioning that the spectator does not have the book for long and there is a wonderful and logical rationale for this with Dan's routine. I think this is another reason why I like "My Word" so much.
Overall: A devious, logical and innocent little "summit-summit" to carry around. If you like the idea of a book test but never have the “formal” occasions to perform one or just want an impromptu book test that makes sense for anyone to have at hand…you’ve found it!!
Rating: 8.5 /10…it might be a little pricey for some of us but is total value for money
