Like Mr Grue I don't really need it enough to warrant buying some, but whenever I have wanted any, white/blue bluetack has served me fine, but those are only the effects I used it for. As Richard Busch said, the stationary shop is the mentalists magic shop- and it stands within reason that a similar philosphy applies to magic. Guy Hollingworth has a whole chapter about paperclips relating to card magic in his (great) book.

Nah, milking bees is dangerous work :>

I have absolutely no experience with magician's wax myself (I was unable to find anything like it in the nearby stores), but I used some paraffin wax from scented candles instead, after heating it up. It holds things together nicely, breaks apart when you give it a hard blow, and adds a nice vanilla fragrance to all your amazing magical deeds.

You'll most likely find that magicians was is cheaper to buy than blue tack!

This eBay magic shop is currently selling the booklet "Tricks from the Wax Museum" plus a starter pot of wax for £2.95. You can't argue with that price!

At least you can see what the proper stuff is like and whether Blu-Tak or other material will do the same thing, depending on what you want it for.

Oh well, I was using blue tack for other purposes at the time and it has always served me well. I remain loyal to this multipurpous tacky blue blob! If I have blue tack which I can use, why not use it?

I was going to say this. Magician's wax is pretty cheap to buy, and it you use it correctly, a tin of it can last a very long time. I have a tin of it that I use for IT work (which I have been getting back into lately as well) and I think I have used about eight pieces of a tin of 50 pieces of wax. And that is in the last three months.

Well thanks for that. I will use the rescources I have for now, after all, I am an economical prodigy  , but if I decide to get more into close up I will most certainly get some. But for now, I'm buried in sleight of hand books, which satisfy my hunger for them, of which mentalism starves me.

Magicians Wax

Postby Allen Tipton » Apr 7th, '10, 10:36

The problem? with blue tack is that it doesn't adhere to everything.
Magicians Wax usually does.
I still have a block of beeswax that Ken Brooke sent me for ? trick.

The wax I have found most useful (usually for ITRs) is that put out by D.Robbins & Co. (They only sell to retailers & own the Tarbell Course rights)
Mine comes from Myles Sinclair at Magical Wonders.
It is in a small transparent case and the wax is transparent as well. Cost, last buy was about £4.

Wax can now be bought in various colours including flesh.
Will check up on the main UK supplier but I think it may be Top Secret Magic.
[/i]

Do remember guys there are 2 kinds. Hard & Soft.
The latter usually onlyfor Card on the C.

Some years back one magician proudly claimed he used his own ear wax!!!
