RDR Deck by Robert Shaw

The Effect

What it says on the box!

No forcing! No Switches! Just One Deck! Easy To Do!

First read the description, then judge for yourself!

The Magician removes a pack of cards from the box and places them face down on the table. A spectator is asked to name ANY card out of the 52 (FREE CHOICE, ABSOLUTELY NO FORCE AT ALL). They can change their mind as often as they wish.

You pick up the deck, explaining that the cards are secretly "Marked" on the backs and because of that, you can locate any card in the deck. The Magician spreads the cards, & explains that "Your card is under that one" as you point to one card.

You then cut the deck bringing the cut to card to the top of the face down deck, you then lift the top face down card from the the deck and one card below it is seen to be face up. It's the freely selected card and all the other cards are seen to be face down!!

The magician states "I'm so pleased you selected that particular card, because if you hadn't then I'm not sure what I would have done......................

The cards are turned over and all the faces are seen to be BLANK!!! The only card in the deck is the spectator's FREELY chosen card!!

Only one deck of cards is used, these are on the table BEFORE the selection, there are 52 cards to the pack (no more & no less) resets with a couple of cuts. No sticky cards are used. Total FREE CHOICE of card. EASY TO DO!!

Comes complete with the special Bicycle Pack that does most of the work for you (just add the presentation, & your personality!) A DVD with many additional ideas, (this deck will do SO MUCH MORE!!).

DVD content includes:

Basic Handling.
Alternative Thoughts.
Two Deck Invisible (by Mike Danata) using TWO spectators & two apparently Invisible Decks!

R.D.R. Deck for Trade Shows (with thanks to Gary Jones, for this splendid idea). Turn your R.D.R. deck into a very powerful advertising tool, that will please your bookers no end!!

Cost

£14.99 exclusively from Mike Danata (http://www.mikedanatasmagicstudio.co.uk)

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

This really is an easy trick to master as is on par with a stripper and ID in terms of difficulty.

Review

Mike mentionned this deck while talking over the phone and within minutes I was on his web site reading the description. A minute or so later it was ordered.

Like a number of other decks this one can't be handed out for examination but to be honest if it's presented well then there's no need for it to be handed out.

The DVD explains all and there are two different finishes depending on which card is selected by the spectator. Both are similar and the difference is subtle but both are easy to learn and you'll be performing this within ten minutes.

I tried this out at a family gathering over the weekend and the results were well worth the cost.

Also on the DVD are a few ideas from Mike such as a double ID presentation and there is also a mention of some trade show ideas by Gary Jones.

Overall

This is a really nice principle that's been turned into a real world working routine and although it's primarily a close up routine it works equally as well on stage or as a mentalism routine.

The deck can be adapted to personalise the cards for using at a trade show etc. and with some thought there are going to be a decent number of ideas on how this deck can be presented.

Well worth the money in my opinion and it's something new that few have at the moment.

8/10

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Sounds good. Incidentally, Robert Shaw is the name of the mark in The Sting for all those Movie fans out there!

I used my RDR deck around the tables when I was in Newcastle last week and it didn't disappoint and it was easy to perform from the outset.

Well worth the money in my opinion.

R.D.R. Deck

Postby danata » Apr 19th, '10, 09:00

I'm really chuffed that all purchasers of the R.D.R. Deck are pleased with it. I'm getting calls every day with more than satisfied customers, GREAT!

It really does seem incredible that no one had thought of this before, especially when you consider so many weaker solutions out there that aim to create the same effect!

This one is 100% foolproof & EASY TO DO!!

All good wishes
