Hi there I wonder if anyone can help me. I am after an effect that could make a borrowed object jump or leap (ring or key) - not a slow movement. PK ring or similar?

regarding borrowing an object and making it jump..


Dont use mag***s.

use loo** or some other physical method. Because ma***ts only make other ma***ts jump.

I don't know what they're called (poppers?) Those little plastic disks that you push down and they pop out again.

"Jumping disc" usually, and they're metal. A bimetallic disc that can be pushed out of shape when warm, and goes back into shape when it cools. Google "jumping disc" for loads of sources.

Max Maven uses one of these in a metal-bending effect for a largeish audience. I don't remember what it's called, but it's somewhere in Prism.

Right so there you go. Try bluetacking one of those to some keys or a coin and see how you get on. Or you could have one under a tablecloth and anything placed on it might jump up.

Finicky, and needs practice and experimentation. But once you got it down its really quite a bit of fun. I've used it to make a business card to leap out of a business card holder.

two magnetic 10ps, held against each other so they repell - hold at fingertips...1,2,3...let go of the top one and it goes flying off and lands back down on the 10p...
