How to predict numbers or letters ppl think about

Postby Mac09 » Apr 20th, '10, 22:57

Derren Brown did it. He predicted numbers and letters ( whole words) which ppl think about. He predicted PIN number, numbers written on piece of paper hidden in someone's wallet etc. How did he do it? Where can I read how to do it because I really want to nail it.
And he couldn't persuaded it by using NLP or something similar as these numbers or letters were established earlier e.g. phone number. Someone think about cell phone number and Derren guessed it.

FYI - NLP is a lie.
Or at least it's not what the Derren-Brownies usually think it is.

:D Sounds like he already has it nailed, eh?

Mac - head on over to the 'Introductions' and tell us a little bit about yourself. You'll find we're a friendly bunch here but we're not big on giving our secrets away to just anyone who joins the forum.

If you're really interested in magic or mentalism, you'll find plenty of support here - but absolutely no flat-out explanantions :-)

Read the 13 steps the mentalism. Then read it again, after you get over the initial disappointment of it not being all psychological.

I did what spooneythegoon said and I can now do all this nonsense you speak of. Sage words indeed.
And, by all means study nlp. It seems very hated these days, probably because it is now a new age non-falsifiable religion full of people thinking they'll be reading people's minds.. Ohhh.. But, still the old stuff (Bandler/ Grinder/ Dilts/ Delozier), when it was a semi-science although it was shunned far to early in my opinion to gain full benefit from it- there are many dodgy explanations and pseudo-science in the old nlp books, but the fact is they get marvelous results and I feel had science kept a little more open minded and just retaining a healthy cynicism for some of the aspects of it, we could have gained a lot.. but meh.. their loss.

First off, good u had a reason to laugh
Secondly I'm not from Uk nor USA neither Australia etc. so I will never speak native english. However it's really kind of you pointing out my mistakes ;)

And the major problem here - I know u guys won't tell me your secrests. However, I'm very interested in psychology and I just wanted any idea what to start from to : 1st understand how Deren did it just in a general way, no details. 2nd a book or articles which I can get my basic knowledge to start from.

Ok I'm really happy to join ur community. Also that you want to keep ur knowledge exclusive just for some ppl not for all. And I do not expect any poems how to learn step by step this skill since I'd like to do a lot by myself getting just basics from U to begin somehow.

It wasn't psychology. It was trickery. Almost a hundred percent trickery.

if you'r still interested, invest in the book mentioned above.

cant figure how to use the quote function....but anyway

Reading up on the latest Science it seems as if it is way ahead of what most people here imagine and many studies have been conducted in the last two years none of which has surfaced in Mentalism yet from what i see. X Ray specs dont exist but theres a lot of other interesting stuff with numbers and predictions that could be used maybe at some stage in the future. Like Banacek on steroids

I mentioned this in a thread the other day with reference to peoples body language when they think of higher or lower numbers than one they first thought of and so on. By looking at eye and head movements researchers guessed correctly .
