Recommendation for a portable harddrive please!

Postby Lenoir » Apr 27th, '10, 17:20

I need a portable hard drive, doesn't have to be particularly big, i doubt they'll be more than 50 gb but always good to have room for more...

Powered without a plug please!

Any recommendations?

Just bought one of these - it's about the size of a wallet:

They come in various sizes and have rave reviews. It'll come formatted in FAT 32, though - you need to reformat to NTFS.

I use a Transcend portable hard drive (250GB) for my backups. Being a backup drive, it gets written to every hour. Absolutely no issues with it whatsoever

Although depending on what you want to do, it might be worth you looking into cloud storage. I have two solutions, Dropbox and mobile me. Mobile me does more than file storage, and dropbox is very easy to use for syncing stuff over several computers and being able to get to the files from literally anywhere

Thanks to the both of you. I need to back up lots of Uni Work and Photographs but also transport then to clients etc. I'll definitely use the online storage as an extra too.
