But it does also have the potential of causing a lot more mess and can be a lot harder to undo. I wouldn't use a hammer on a screw that was going to hold up a valuable painting that could get damaged if it wasn't afixed to the wall properly.

Then I'd get a man in to do the work for me.

We did have this conversation more or less. I think I even introduced it as "the stooge conversation".

I think that a lot of people who like Derren would cease to enjoy him if he was caught using a stooge. The fact that stooges and their uses remain such a controversy in magic is symptomatic of that - it feels like a dealbreaker. And if he were caught using a stooge once, then.... eep... does he always use stooges? Because anyone could do that. I think that's the danger for performers who are famous enough.

And we'll take the jokes about Derren getting a man in as read, shall we?

Went to see Enigma on the 4th of April in Bradford.

One of the best live shows i have ever seen!!!

Some of the effects were just phenomenal!!!

Highlights for me were the updated version of Korans Medallion and who couldnt love the ending?????

All in all i would rate this his 2nd best live show. (1st being And Eveniong Of Wonders)

So..... *I WILL TRY TO AVOID SPOILERS - BUT DON'T READ IF YOU'VE NOT SEEN THE SHOW.... GO AND SEE IT AND THEN COME BACK!!!!!*

Just got back from tonight's show in Birmingham. I have steadfastly ignored reading anything about the show before now but have just had a quick scan through the thread before posting my thoughts - just as they come to me, so they might be a bit random.

1) Stooges - I didn't see any particular effects that needed/used stooges.

2) The White Handbag - I think he said they needed to 'mic you up' so I imagine the bag was purpotedly a portable battery pack for said microphone (although I didn't see him unclip a lapel mic when he took the bag off of the volunteer)

3) Very nice 'Guess Who' routine - I think a variation might work its way into my act somewhere along the line (as might the vinegar trick!)

4) The ENDING - yes, it was very nice but... wasn't it just a glorified c***r routine? The video tied everything together well - even if it had the effect of exposing the fact that the underlying theme of the first half was a complete setup (pity the poor bods who rushed to put the slips of paper into the hamper! )

5) I remember hearing that the show underwent a few tweaks for this second run of dates - would love to hear what had changed. If it veers to close to exposure, please PM me!

All in all, a great night out with DB on top form. As I get more experienced in magic/mentalism, I find myself less impressed with his effects but much more impressed with his presentation skills - he was consmate tonight with his misdirection and audience skills.

It's late but I would love to chat more about the show if anyone wants to - PM me if you'd prefer!

Definitely a Berglas vibe to the last effect... but, hey, if you're going take you finale from someone, it would be Berglas, right???

Most of the stuff Derren performs is out of the Berglas book. Honest.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but why are you ignoring Mr Brown's very very clear and specific instructions not to tell anyone about what happens in the show?

This is really poor show, if you ask me. The post should be deleted. As should others in this thread where details of the show are being discussed.

Real shame people cannot comply with what are fairly simple instructions.
