£2 Expanded Coin Shell

The Effect
What the description says:
Precision made high quality expanded £2 shell fits over a standard coin.
We have refused to sell a £2 shell for several years, as the cheaper/older versions tend to be of poor quality and the silver center disc can sometimes come loose!
These new £2 shells use a totally new production method, to ensure years of good service from your coin!

Cost
£29.99 – Magicshop.co.uk

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Hard to grade as there are a number of different uses from easy to hard.

Review
Looks a good quality and well made item and I doubt that it will fall apart in the near future. To get over the mentioned poor quality and possibility of the silver centre coming adrift, the groove found on real coins between the silver and gold sections is all but missing. The shell is also slightly thicker than other shell coins I have seen which means the inserted coin sticks out a little more than you may be used to. As such I probably wouldn’t use this on a flat table where the gimmick may be noticed but held in the hand I doubt anyone would ever spot the difference.

Overall
Ok it cost a bit but for a UK coin worker this is a nice piece of kit that allows various effects with borrowed British coins which is always better than trying to explain why you’re doing your next trick with a US half dollar.
I don’t like scores as one mans meat is another mans poison (or whatever the phrase is) so I’ll just say that for me, I’m very happy with it.

I had heard that the middle was prone to fall out of these, so it's good news that that particular problem seems to be sorted.

thanks for the review.
