HI, why do you want to learn a flourish ??

Learn to be good at entertaining instead. Flourishes take up time.

hmm. i hear this from beginners all the time. You do not need to learn the flashy stuff straight away. Just start by learning some basic shuffles and false shuffles. Once you can perform basic card control then move on to learning a few basic tricks. Once you have confidence you can then learn some flashy stuff if you wish. I would say that it is more important to learn to entertain first. You will find this is how many of the cardies learnt. Some flourishes take a very long time to learn so you will need a lot of patience and time.

A good source of information is the 'Royal road to card magic' a cheap book that contains some good information.

Welcome guest. I'd listen to these guys if you spent all your time learning flourishes and not bother with the basics you might wow someone with your card flinging and when they ask for a trick you do something really lame and they laugh at you ( possibly not out loud) but you may feel the embarresment  . This is not a dig in any means i am no master magician myself but i've found learning to walk was far easier than trying to run. :)

First, welcome to TM!

Secondly, the basics of card control and manipulation are much easier to learn than complicated flourishes and once learned, will enhance your flourishes anyway. Trying to run before you can walk is a term that springs to mind.
