Digital Camcorders

Postby Ant » May 25th, '10, 20:26

With disciple number one due in October we have decided to look in to getting a camcorder.

The last one I bought was ridiculously expensive for what it was and out of date within 6 months (Sony Hi8 :().

I want something with a good quality picture, memory expansion and is compact enough to slip in to a good sized pocket.

I know virtually nothing about camcorders so the floor is open to suggestions, preferably no more than £200.

Thanks very much. :D

The Flip HD is painfully easy to use and the quality is nice as well.

Yeah - FLIP. Cheap, easy to use, reliable.

What about the battery charge problem? Seems like more than one person has had problems with that, do either of you know if it has been fixed?

I didn't know there were issues...mine works fine. Never any battery issues!

lol

On more serious note...I have this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kodak-Zx1-Defin ... B001SN72TK

It's really pretty good. I like it because it's quite rugged. It's 'weather proof' and can handle a few bumps...Few different filming modes too (HD, or lower quality for youtube etc).

We got a FlipHD when our little one arrived and have been really pleased with it. Dead easy to use means you do actually use it. Fits in pocket. V. good pic quality. Would definitely recommend.

I have this one! (Although I got the Sherlock Holmes version rather than the Harry Potter.) It's surprisingly good quality. Slips into a pocket and is all the camera/camcorder I need.

Then again, my criteria are quite low...

To be honest...for £9.99 you can't really go wrong unless you're looking for exceptional quality...

I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of their photo frame keyring. I got the Sherlock Holmes one (part of a set, with the camera) but they do have an unbranded one as well.

I second the Flip HD. If you want "just a camera" you really can't go wrong with it quality wise. And it's very very easy to use

The screen's a bit small though, but I guess it's a compromise between screen size and pocket space

Do these flip devices have optical zooms?

If so, I might invest in a few of them for impromptu show recording...

I'm reviving this thread because I'm looking for a good quality hand held camcorder now, is the flip HD still worth getting or is there something better?
