Doesn't suprise me. From purely anecdotal experience if I play a game straight before I go to sleep I end up dreaming about it and playing new levels and all sorts of weird sh*te. It's actually even worse with books and films occasionally in that I'll sort of advance the plot in my head so I'm really confused when I wake up because stuff I dreamed happens in the book doesn't happen.

Yes, if I'm deeply into a game right before bed it will haunt me all night. The same with a book -- my thoughts can flow in the author's style and rhythm for hours afterwards.

It can even work while wide awake. My father was a bit obsessive about a complex shoot-em-up way back in the early '80s, and played for hours at a time. After a long session, he described that he saw the whole world (for a time) in terms of the patterns of the game -- angles, corners, refuges, open corridors, etc.

I've done the same after playing The Sims for hours at a stretch. I can start visualising my own "state" bars (hunger, fatigue, etc.).
