Gimmick card trick name

Postby mikkelbg » May 25th, '10, 23:23

Hi,

Almost a year ago I learned a card trick that I really liked. I haven't preformed it in a while and have forgotten it. I can't remember the name and can't find the explanation again. I hope someone here know the name, and maybe where I can find it again.

First the spectator picks a card from the deck and the performer shuffles the deck (or even the spectator). Then the you admit that you have no way of finding it again. Instead you take five cards from the deck (ace trough five of a suit) and put the rest of the deck aside.
Then show some tricks with the five cards (stuff like DL and elmsley count) and puts some aside until you only have three cards left in your hand (ace through 3).
Then, a quick mix of the three cards and you show the ace, the two and, when the spectator expects the third, instead you show the original card that the spectator choose in the beginning.

I remember the start and the gimmick, but nothing more. Does anybody know the name?

Thanks!
Mikkel

nope...but, if you know some sleights, that effect is easily do-able without the need for any gimmicks...you've already described the effect...now its the chance for you to create your own version...

which will be better as it'll be gimmick free!

well, I'm really not good enough to come up with my own. The gimmick is really simple and made the card handling very convincing.

Go on, I'm curious, what's the gimmick?
As Iain says, you don't need one; only gimmicky thing i can think of to simplify it would be R&S, or possibly a DF'er.

Custom R&S decks made to specification - PM me for details

Probably going to be deleated for exposure, but perhaps instead of Double Face it is mix indexed. That would make it incredibly easy.

I'm not that familiar with the rules of the forum, thats why i decided not to write the gimmick, can I or will it be deleted?
It's none of your suggestions.

(what is R&S ? )

It depends on what you write but thanks for being careful anyway! If you can describe the gimmick in general terms it might be enough for one of the cardies here to recognise it and help you along. R&S is Rough & Smooth  .

Hmmm....sounds a lot like the rather excellent Five Speed by the rather marvellous Chris Kenner.

At the end of Five Speed you have the 3, 4 and 5 in your mitts, and tell the spec to keep their eye on the 3. When you eventually whittle the cards down to the last one which is supposed to be the 3, it turns out to be their initial selection.

Awesome trick, worth the price of Totally Out Of Control alone.

Definitely 5 speed. No gaffs involved.
