Just a note to mention the great service I had from Dominic and Ben at magicshop.co.uk.

I (like many others) got the Jay Sankey discount e-mail yesterday and decided that I'd go for his 'Invisible' DVD+Deck. The ID is something I've not really used for ages and, being a great mentalist standby, thought it was probably worth digging back into it - especially with the 25% discount!

Or so I thought - try as I might, I just couldn't get the website to accept the code. It would work on other Sankey products but not this one!

So, I gave them a call and was talking to Dominic in no time at all - who spotted exactly what the problem was and made the necessary change to the website whilst I was on the line. I placed the order there and then and, thanks to our wonderful Royal Mail 1st class system, was greeted with the package bright and early this morning (well, 11 o'clock is early 'round our way for the postman!).

So, just a note to thank Magicshop for their great service (and discount offer!)- it's nice to be able to talk to someone when things don't go as planned!!

(Oh, and the DVD is pretty nice too... I do have a soft spot for Sankey!)

Just on this topic... as I say, I've not used the ID for sometime now but I do remember that my original one, all those years ago, wasn't in CHaSeD format but the red/black parings were around the other way (fear of exposure prevents me from elaborating but I'm sure you all know what I mean...)

I just thought that I had a dodgy deck at the time but the one that came with this DVD is also not in CHaSeD order! The DVD suggests that it should be so I'm wondering if I've just been incredibly unlucky for a second time!?

Obviously it's not a problem to rearrange (or, as I have done, come up with a more suitable mnemonic for remembering!) but I was just curious....

The beauty of the ID, is you can put the "stack" in any order that is suitable for you. I know people who have matching pairs in the deck, some who use CHaSeD and many other stacks. The important thing is to make sure you know your new stack well enough so that you dont get confused and start thinking back to when you used the old stack! Ive been using the ID in CHaSeD for so long now (9 years I have been using the ID now) that I know the stack inside out, and wouldnt dare swapping!!

Enjoy revisiting the ID - its a great utility deck to have in your repertoire!

Quick question...

Why have an ID in any order other than the origional? Yes the origonal has a "pattern" in it, but no one ever notices.

If you already have a stack memorized, then why go to the trouble of learning a new one?

A know the ID order isn't exactly difficult to learn, but if you have several routines using a certain order and then come to do the ID, it could throw you off.

Also, a few people have previously mentioned being hesitant on the kings etc because of the obvious flaw in the stack so perhaps it help there.

I use the original simply because that's the way I learnt it and any change would confuse me! However, as mentioned, if I had learnt through my own stack at the start, the thought of using the original wouldn't be fun.

It's one hundred percent preference really. At the end of the day, as long as the only face down card is the one they named, who cares! :D

I know, I'd have been happy with original order too... my real concern was that both ID's I've bought over the years HAVEN'T been in CHaSeD when I've unboxed them!!

Not sure I could work in CHaSeD now - Luckily my daughter is called Charlotte, my son is called Dylan, I am Sean and we're all Happy...

which makes it simple to remember the order my new ID seems to have come out of the box in ;-)

I've also only ever had fantastic service from these guys...

Always seem really knowledgeable about the products and happy to answer questions (within reason I guess).

Also tend to get stuff from them faster than I expect...

I don't think my IDs have ever been set up in CHaSeD (I found an old Royal Magic one yesterday, and it definitely wasn't). I was able to get it right straight out of the box, so I was obviously expecting that set-up!

Because there's no need for the "pattern". My IDs always get shuffled up. You know which card you're looking for, there's no need for you to know where it is!

As you say, no one ever notices that it's in pattern, so why bother?
