Bill Serial Number Prediction

Postby TheMentalist » May 19th, '10, 19:51

Hi guys,

so i've seen lots of people do this, and it still bugs the hell out of me :P
so, how do i predict the serial number from a borrowed bill without tearing, swiching it or anything?

Thanks

You don't. You tear and sw*tch and do all that lovely trickery.

Paul Brook has a method of doing this in one of his books, I'm not sure which one, I've only read Alchemical Tools.

I have a method I use, but it's not the kind of trick you can use hopping tables.

I think you mean Paul's effect "Serial Killer". I performed it in a pub earlier tonight. Highly recommended.

QUESTION: Have you actually read (let alone studied) Corinda?

The method is in there... there's a whole chapter (step) devoted to it in fact... and that's just one of the several methods you can use... You could also invest some time learning some of Millard Longman's techniques (MEVPROSHOP.com)

or I would second Paul Brooks Serial Killer Routine. Better than any method in Corinda for the same effect. And i use it in walkaround and stage work.

I think you missed my point, "The Mentalist" hadn't a clue as to how this stunt was executed so I simply dressed him down for not using Mentalism 101 knowledge as his first course to figuring something out.

I've got to go back and find Paul's notes in that the routine don't strike a chord with me. But nothing gets much simpler or innocent than Millard Longman's method (short of switching out bills go using a swami)

I'll third Paul Brook's work. Mind you, there's a host of good ones out there and maybe beating PB to the first, for me, is Marc Spellman's version, which is brillinat.

Combines a "guess which hand" with a (sort of) confab routine and the bill prediction is the surprise kicker at the end.

Some peeps have criticised that as "over-egging" but I recon it's brilliant.

PB is better for impromptu though. YouTube him, there's a vid of him up there somewhere!
