Absolutley. Do not buy into the marketing con of 'visual' learners and 'non-visual learners'. I know a bit about learning, and I would technically classify myself as a 'visual' learner. That does not excuse laziness and need to have evrything spoon fed to me on incredibly expensive dvds which simply show old stuff. Nor is it even a disadvantage to be 'visual' to learn to read books and work through them and practice.
Trust me, with a few cheap old magic books from amazon probably worth no more than one rediculous dvd which explains a tiny part of maybe one of those books you have a whole world of opportunity. Remember, it is not about learning how its done, but learning how its done well. Anyone can learn what a DL, but it can take years to refine and make it look natural.
