I think you understand the handling and the sleights aren't too bad Arike, but you really need to work on the smoothness. Look back at the recording and see where you errm and arrr and where your hands are looking clunky and everything doesn't quite flow smoothly, there the bits you need to work on.

Say what you like, I really don't care. If someone puts something up that they have not rehearsed fully and ask for "feedback" they should be prepared for someone who is willing to be honest.

I have lost count of how many times I have tried to offer "advice" to the youtube generation of magician "up and comers" who seem to think that it's an acceptable practice to do this, and simply reply "yeah what do you know"
so forgive me for doing my part to attempt to persuade this person to go back and practice in my own little way.

I'm sorry- how does telling him he's c*** (not the best) motivate him or persuade him to take your noble and superior path??

And if you want to be pedantic- it IS two Ms or else it is in fact grammatically incorrect. But Pedantics impress nobody.

Spelling is usually considered to be separate, but related, to grammar. This is a simplification, though, and spelling is part of grammar (e.g. spelling of plurals). So a pedant might say that your statement above is wrong, and that pedant would have a point, but they would also be wrong ultimately.

I didn't come out and say that anybody was "c**p (not the best) but I am certainly not going to lie and say that it was great.

And my second post was not a critique on anybody's spelling or grammar, merely a sarcastic representation of being impressed that anybody can use the word "scummy" in a sentence.

Not trying to belittle anybody for mistaking me for being pedantic in that instance, just trying to point out how blase I find someone attempting to insult me for speaking my opinion on a public forum.

OK, well my opinion is that while the effect works, even though I don't understand your language, you're holding the cards too hard - you have them sort of trapped in your hand, which makes them look quite suspicious. And the twirl at the beginning - I'd avoid that because it makes me think, "he's going to do some sleight of hand now."

I can sense Mandrake getting agitated, so I don't want to escalate this. But there's no need for it. Simple. There have been two case studies for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on this thread alone, which you might want to read and if you really do care about helping Arike, and emulate if you really want to offer efficient advice to improve.
I have no interest in insulting you, but your way of 'helping' is highly suspect.

I don't think it was that, it is quite easy to get nervous and make a few minor mistakes, especially with a camera.

Oh, and just so you know, I thought it was quite good, but maybe you need to work on making it smoother.

As someone who is hopeless with practical card sleights, but knows the theory, I'll offer you my expert opinion!

The sleights looked well executed individually and the whole routine was nice to watch, taken as a whole. My criticism, based on the fact that I know what techniques were used, is the same as some others here: It lacked consistent pace - you had a good rhythm going at some points, then you slowed down or seemed to rush in places too. You need to keep the whole thing at one pace or it looks wrong. Don't keep hesitating when moving from one sleight to another, even for a fraction of a second. Someone who doesn't know anything about sleights may not even notice that much, I don't know.

I can not do any of the sleights in the routine, so you are miles ahead of me and so I am not really qualified to criticise. Keep it up though. Take this response with the pinch of salt it deserves
