Manipulation Wear

Postby David R. » Jun 20th, '10, 01:59

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since I've been on here, but hopefully all of you will still be willing to help me out :)

I'm struggling with an act that I am working on. Particularly, what type of blazer to wear or how to alter one to make the sleeves look natural when I have something hidden in them. My act requires me to have a soda can in each sleeve (and in one version of the act I would even require two in one of the sleeves) and I cannot figure out how to get rid of the bulky and heavy look in my sleeves that gives away that there is something in them.

All contributions and opinions are appreciated!
~David

Unfortunatly the absolute best solution is the most expensive. Have the suit custom tailored. Find a really good tailor, go with your props, show your tailor exactly what is needed and then after all the funny looks you recieve, pay throught the nose and have it done properly.

find a dove worker in your area, if there are any. They will be able to advise. Failing that, research dove magic.

Do both of the above.
Dove workers will give you the how and a good tailor will make you a suit. As an alternative try wedding dress fitters they also do suits. having an off the peg suit adapted is not always cheaper than having made from scratch (and not as expensive as people think)
Do cans HAVE to be sleeved? other drop methods are available?

Thank you all for the advice!

I know a couple of dove workers, and will ask them what they think the solution would be. As far as the suit is concerned, I think I know someone who could do it for me for a reasonable price.

However, Jackleg, you bring up a really good point. The cans don't HAVE to be sleeved. I haven't considered dropping them from other places. Although I think the sleeves would definitely allow me to do it cleanly, I haven't considered or played with the possibility of dropping the cans from the bottom edge of my jacket or underneath the jacket on my pants. Any specific suggestions?

I appreciate your support,
~David

P.S. Bmat, I just noticed your location. Is there any chance that you'll be attending/visiting Tannen's Magic Camp in a few weeks?

Nope, no chance I'll be attending the event. I've heard it is a lot of fun.
