How do I add a picture like the other guys do in their posts ?

Into the left-hand column that is.

you go to profile, scroll down to the bottom, and follow instructions. Make sure your image is small enough though. Many free image hosting sites offer the oportunity to scale down the image to suit.

By an 'avatar' I presume you mean like your logo that goes with your name on the left of a post.

That's what I'm after. I have a jpg image, but don't know how to get it down to size. Can you advise ?

Yeah, I have an avatar on my blog page, and twitter, and facebook and I still can't get one to work here. Sure I can perform the muscle pass, elsmsly count, longnitudinal palm, coin roll, a host of useless yet fun to do flourishes. But an avatar? I just can't do it.

You know,- it makes you feel good when you discover that you're not the only one that doesn't know the secret to a particular trick !

Hopefully we'll get there in the end.

Oh and by the way,- I can't do the muscle pass (I've got the strained muscles to prove it).

If you have any sort of image manipulation software, you should be able to resize your picture without much trouble.

If not, this website will do it for you.

I've always just compacted whatever picture I want to use by resizing it using MS Paint. It's not perfect but then again it's just an avatar to go by your name.

Ironically,- all my posts on this topic that enquire about 'how to get an avatar up and running', now have an avatar !

If anybody is reading this with the same query you need to know that when you solve the puzzle your pickie will appear in all your posts as if by magic !
