Hi everyone,

I was wondering if a water bottle has been used as a load in the bullet catch as I thought of it today, thanks.

You may want to go into a bit more detail here... are you planning on catching a water bottle in your teeth? Or, are you using pressurized water as the energy source for the projectile?

Frankly, I can see someone doing a "Bullet Catch" using a bottle of shaken soda and catching the cap in their mouth. I think it would be hilarious.

I think he means using it to load the bullet.

Don't think that would work, bullets NEED guns to actually work and really I couldn't see the bullet going but a few feet or inches after being "fired" from the water bottle.

No,the bottle is a way for the magician to load the extra bullet into his/her mouth.

Seems a bit blatant?

But on the plus side, you've inspired a great bit of comedy business that I'll write into my next pantomime ;)

I think it would be a really good way to load the bullet. The nervous performer takes a quick swig of water before taking his position kind of thing. Remember - the audience aren't looking for a load. Don't run if you aren't being chased.

And BTW, some hilarious responses from people who quite honestly should know better! Using the bottle to fire the bullet indeed.

This is my thought exactly. Also, your bound to get nervous if you about to risk your life for a stunt so getting some water is only natural.

you would also build up a bit of sweat, and dab your forehead with a Napkin, or after taking a swig of water, you may want to wipe away a bit off your chin.

in other words, the water might give logical reason to a different method.

As per the "secret method" approach, I think it would work but there is something that will help make the move more innocent... condition your audience ahead of time!

There are many performers now days, especially comics, that have a stool sitting off to the side with several water bottles they will take a swig from here and there... do the very same thing. Make it a subtle habit. the audience witnessing you at least a couple of times prior to the stunt (and earlier in the act), taking a quick drink... you could even offer a bottle to those that assist you (make certain the label has your name and logo on it however... I'm not kidding, big companies do exactly this in their marketing)
