I have alot of magic stuff but have a lot of trouble understanding the terms they use. can someone tell me what all these terms mean(riffle, force, etc.)

Also I have a stripper deck, a svengali deck, a brainwave deck, and the raven(which i have no clue on how to do..if someone could explain it...thanks) So that is my problem and that is the material I am working with. Also if anyone knows any easy cool tricks with those items, please tell. But first the terms.

have you even read the instructions on the raven? Its pretty clear if you read it back a few times, and practice along with the gimmick.

Hi xtreme...

You seem to have acquired an awful lot of magic with no understanding of any of it - where did you get it all from.

To start off with I would recommend you but a book such as the "Royal Road to Card Magic", which will not only teach you th emeaning of terms like Riffle, Force etc, but will also teach you some cool tricks.

These forums are for people who already have a keen interest in magic and who I feel would probably already know the answers to some of the questions you are asking. If you really are a keen enthusiast and not just looking for secrets, then I apolgise to you, but the advice remains the same. Buy a book such as th eone I suggested - you wont regret it.

The internet is awash with sites which give details but it can be a bit of a slog sorting out the good from the rubbish. If you have a spare weekend available, check out http://web.superb.net/cardtric/ and you'll see just about every move, shuffle and sleight mentioned with a good idea of how and why to do them. Best of luck!

Mandrake, did you know the guy who runs Cardtrick Central is not a magician, just a kid who collects moves and slights and shares them with anyone....when he first set up the site I asked him if he has any morals about giving away magic secrets and he more or less said.....everyone is doing it so why shouldn't he.

My reply is unprintable on here but it more or less said.....the fact that everyone does it, doesnt make it right!

I think he may now have a password of some type to gain access to parts of the site but I still think it's a blatant give away of magic slights to anyone who just happens to find his site by whatever means!

Maybe I am just old fashioned and this is what we have to accept is the norm and the way it is now! :(

Thanks for that, I know it's no excuse but, as that site has been going for quite a while, I figured it would help the enquirer far more than asking for info here. Cardtrick Central seems to have turned into a useful resource and a lot of the tricks shown are contributed so, unless they've been copied from other folks, I'd assume they were public domain and, as you rightly say, the ‘hard trick’ section is behind a password - but not exactly a difficult process to figure out. Having said all that, I know what you mean about making secrets too readily available!
