Most basic magic sets like Marvin's etc cover this and may even supply the necessary gizmo to do it with.

I'm not sure about sleight of hand - maybe sleeving?

This would probably help: Universal pull

Get "Now you see it, now you don't" from Bill Tarr. This book will teach you more sleights than you will ever need to vanish and produce objects.

You can e.g. get it from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 86-9082013

Be prepared, though, to spend at least several weeks of practice before you can actually start to show your moves to some friends.

crazydude, don't take this as a critism, but when you joined Talk Magic, you stated that you wanted to learn everything there is to know about card magic......a daunting and an almost impossible task I would say!

Over the next 7 or 8 posts, you have also wanted to learn the zombie, metal bending, and have asked for help on the TT, also the Tenki Palm and back palming. While there is nothing wrong in what you ask…..

I think you should give the Royal Road to Card Magic a chance as it appears (correct me if I am wrong), that you may only have had this book a short while and are already saying that the method it teaches the classic pass is impossible…….but then in the next breath you want to learn equally difficult slights like the Tenki palm and back palming!

I may be getting the wrong end of the stick here, but it just appears that you want to learn everything at once….so I say…..

Slow down a bit….and you will learn it all, the rate your going you will either learn nothing or learn it all badly!……I understand that you want to learn it all yesterday!! But learning magic is not like that, you have to learn it slowly as it takes time to perfect slights and everything that goes with it! :)

I know the methods in the Royal Road are a not that easy to pick up but I think most of us have used the book and although I found the book a little difficult to get on with it was the only book I had at the time and I had to persevere with it, the RRTCC also teaches some other important slights which I am assuming that you already know or are learning......

But that's not helping with your question about the pen.....

This sounds like good advice to me! :)

No, I haven't. Do you know if he still gives regular performances somewhere?

No I am sorry I am unsure, of where he might be performing but I know he is a member of the forum Magic Cafe, I am still a member of that forum...but not posted for a while and unsure if I will, as I found it mostly consisted of members from the USA, while there is nothing wrong with our American friends, I found they had different views when it came to taking a gig before you had an act...there would be lots of posts from guys saying something like....

I got a gig next week....any ideas on what I can do for it.....that used to wind me up!

Anyway to get back to your question.....I bought his book Paramiracles and talked to him about it on the forum, I was going out with a German girl at the time and he asked if I wanted to meet up when I was in Germany, but she lived in Nuremberg, and unfortunately she got ill and passed away......so I don't have the opportunity to go to Germany now.

Sorry I am babbling on a bit......

You may be able to talk to him on that forum, I know that's not much help.....but best I can offer! :)

Sincere condolences for your loss.

Thank you for the information on the Magic Cafe forum. From the forums I do know, I'd say that TM has many quality posters and so far I have found some useful information here.

Besides, I just found out using Google that Ted Lesley has a web shop, see

http://www.wonderworkshop.de

It looks interesting and he seems to have some selected pieces there. Can you review the Paramiracles book? Can you recommend it to someone who already has Annemann's "Practical Mental Magic" and Corinda's "13 Steps to Mentalism"?

Thanks Rumburak for your kind words, but I am ok now, it was nearly two years ago now and I am again with someone who I am very much inlove with, so live does get better......

Ted's book, I will have to think about a review as I am not a mentalist although I would like to put some mentalist routines into my close-up magic act....I don't think I have any intention to concentrate on mentalism entirely.

Give me a little while to re-read the book and I will come back to you on that one... maybe there is someone in the forum who is a lot more qualified than me who would be able to give you a better idea of how the book stands up against or in parallel to Practical Mental Magic or Corinda's 13 Steps.

Thanks for the link to Ted's site.

Maybe a review request is in order! :)

There is one totaly impromptu pen vanishing trick that is very commonly used.

There is a little movie clip of Jay doing the move here

http://www.penguinmagic.com/browse.php? ... flower+pot

Your best bet to see the trick being performed is there.

This trick is not really a reputation maker. But is great to break the ice with friends or even if you want to add bit of comey to add to your routine.

(hope im not advertising by showing that website)

Its called the Flip stick move. Its the creation of Dutch wonderworker flipp .
You will find it in Tarbell 7, if you have access to a copy of it, and it is also on Jay's 45 dvd.
