how can 1 trick look so simple? magician never touches cards..

i doubt they wer gimmicked!! is there two parts to the trick..??

sory about that , i jus thought id ask the questions before saying the trick!

derren brown, channel 4, johnathon ross and his wife sat at atable with 2 decks of cards spread in front of them ( this is for those who diddnt see it!!)

he asks the lady to name a card, through a method i am familiar with so maybe a force was applied.

both spectators shuffle cards under table whilst derren explains storys of coincedence to then to build up the anchor.

then both asked to reverse a card an shuffle it in to ther deck..

when brought forward , bothe reversed cards are the card johnathon ross's wife named at the start.

this is the only trick iv ever sat down and wanted to know.

any SUPPORT or TIPS??

That was a great tick wasn't it? I think most will agree that Derren Brown is an amazing performer. Unfortunately though no one here is going to answer your question, as revealing secrets is not what we are about. That is of course assuming that everyone here even knows how that effect was done...

I'm not sure how he did it...I assume that aaarrrggghhhh.

i.e. I think I know the principle but the handling was superb - classic DB (not Blaine - Brown! )!

BTW, did anyone see the latest show today? That was wicked! I especially liked the 3H one...that was just plain good. I'm racking the ole grey matter to figure out how he did it now - that's the problem with being a magish .

EDIT: Just realized that it's a repeat from Monday .

I echo what bananafish says, the forum is not about revealing secrets but about futhering the art of magic within our community and giving and receiving advice and help on technique and performing etc.

I am sure you will see many tricks over your time as magician, that you want to learn right away but they do say patience is a virtue and I am sure if you are patient you will eventually learn how this trick is done and a lot more besides through experience and the knowledge that you gain over the years.

Please don't take offence at this but, I am having difficulty reading your posts, I am an oldy so I am not used to text speak!!

ok i understand that it cant just be a "hey this is how it was done!" kinda thing, but..

im sure someone would be able to answer me a few questions without giving too much away.

are the cards gimmicked?

are they set up?

was the 7H a force?

derren didnt touch the cards which also makes me wonder!!

I can understand your curiosity because 'How the hell did that happen?' is one of the fundamental reactions to a good magic effect. What we're saying is that specific answers your questions aren't going to appear in the open forum as, assuming we knew the answers, that would be giving away information which is the intellectual property of the developer of the effect. At best, we may have a suspicion or two as to how part of it is done but there's no garantee that it's what was actually done on the show as there's usually more than one way to achieve an effect. Of course, if the developer of the effect decides to PM you then that would be a hell of a result!

Perhaps the best way to use your curiosity is to try and reverse engineer the effect and see if you can find your way of presenting the same sort of thing based on the suggestions you already made - best of luck!

to be honest.. theres no where to start with the engineering of the trick..

its a simple "deren doesnt touch the cards" trick.. and in that instance every good card handeler would asume there gimmicked decks but that would not be.

there spread both ways, face and back.. there shuffled by non magicians..

if anyone has derrens old dvd, mind games, there is an awsome trick on there on the gammbling part wher the lady names a card and derren cuts to that card.

now thats brutal.

yea i own that dvd, its really good, dosnt it tell you how he did it ??? (not sure havnt watched it in a while just i thoguht it told you)
