Stamps with real Volcanic Ash from ”Eyjafjallajökull“

Postby gunnarkr » Jul 22nd, '10, 14:33

Today, Icelandic Post published 3 new stamps, which are unique.

All the stamps are silkscreen printed with very fine-grained trachyandesite ash (3 microns (μm) or less) which fell at Eyjafjallajökull April 17th 2010. The trachyandesite magma has ca. 60% silica content and comes from a depth of 7 km with a temperature of more than 1100°C when it reaches the glacial ice.

If any of you magicians are stamp collectors, feel free to send me a PM, and I can send you a letter with the Volcanic Ash stamps on them.

I have received a few e-mails and PMs about this. The 3 stamps + the envelope cost almost £3 and I don't add any cost on top of that. PayPal would be the easiest way to cover the cost, with their commission it's £3 exactly. :)
