This looks great! What a shame its currently unavailable.

I decided to make my own gimmick; not sure if its the same method (I based mine on an 'ambitious' idea of Daryl). Was a great DIY project, and it works a treat, but I think I'll pick up the rerelease in August if only for the dvd teachings!

Is it really unavailable? Why? (Maybe this is discussed earlier in this thread. I'm just thinking aloud here.)

The Extractor is actually based on the Daryl idea. They bought the idea and turned it into the Extractor. So if you base your thingy on the Daryl thingy then you're halfway there.

I'd encourage anyone to buy the Extractor rather than try to make their own, however. Not just for the obvious moral reasons but because the design of the Extractor is just right. I doubt you'd end up with something nearly as clever. Plus, the DVD you get with the Extractor is great, with lots of awesome handling tips and some good routines.

I do intend to make my own Extractor (or at least try), but I bought the real thing first. And I need a non-Bicycle bridge sized Extractor, which is certainly not available. (Unless the guys will make one for me?) I'm switching to bridge sized cards, for the simple reason that they take up less room in your pocket!

I think its unavailable through the official site because they are releasing a "deluxe" version in the Autumn. Everywhere else seems to be sold out.

Glad to know I'm on the right lines. As I say, it was more of a fun project rather than a serious attempt to replicate the extractor. I have to say, mine works really well though! The hard part was the end where the card is inserted. Getting it to feel right as you pushed the card back in took a few attempts, and I expect its not nearly as good as the Bromley version.

I think its clear that, as with so many props/utility devices, its the way you use it that is important, which means the accompanying DVD adds significant value to the extractor gimmick. So I do intend to pick up the new version when its available, but in the meantime, I've got a nice practice prop!

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I rarely perform with my jacket on - would there still be effects I could do with the Extractor gimmick even when wearing a shirt and waistcoat?

The essential part of the using the extractor is that you use a top inside pocket, if your waistcoat has that, then I cant see any problems using the Extractor
