Other uses for chop cup?

Postby DavMac » Jul 21st, '10, 10:42

Hi all,

I currently use a chop cup routine for 1 of my walk round table routines and in the same routine use it for card under cup.

For the other 2 routines it's not used but is still on the table.

Any suggestions on what else I could use it for?

Thanks

You could use it to keep your right side jacket pocket very full?

Or more seriously why don't you use it in every set? It's often one of my most requested tricks and if its being done properly will catch people every time even if they're walking around watching it a couple of times.

If I'm going to use the chop cup in a gig it gets used in every set I perform so I don't worry about where to put it

Ah-ha..Its simply a matter of routining.

Mark James opens with chop cup, then at some point uses it for card under. ( the full routine is available on one of his rsvp dvds)

By opening with it, you have a logical reason for having it sit on the table.. as your not going to clear it up, till the end of your set.

I was going to say card under, so instead we'll go with using it to have a drink.

Thanks for the quick responses!

I don't use it in every set as I've found that if the tables are too close together the tables either side of the one I'm performing at can/have, inadvertently, already seen the routine whilst performing for other people so dependant on space I do it every 2 or 3 tables.

The routine I used is based on Mark's routine from his DVD, I used his as a guide for building the routine I use.

so, the tables that you dont use the chop cup at are the tables that you do something that uses pencils. ( or argos pens, or crayons, or some other small item that you use)

Then the cup becomes a handy container :)

or do rising cards, and shove a deck in it.

or, use it to collect tips.

or use it to collect folded billets for a O.A routine of some kind.

( getting close to Mr Bakers stuff there i fear)

or do a small misers dream thing, using the cup in place of an ice bucket.

This might give you food for thought..

You could sy 'if you think I'm good pop somthing in it' and put a sticker on it that says 'TIPS'

Or

Well that's all I'm using that cup for. Put tue sticker on and smile. Adds comedy and a potential for some extra £

surely this screams out for the old chestnut of a 2p coin and 3 10p's that go into the cup, a tap and a tipout and the 2p has vanished only to be found in a deck of cards ontop of a previous prediction, a quick vanish and now it back in the cup with the 10p's.

or how about a dancing paper buterfly on a playing card sat on the cup. :D

Just had a thought, could you use it to make a coin (ap) vanish from your hand to under the cup using the traditional chop cup method, then from a spectators hand (Coin Unique) to inside the cup which has a deck of cards sat on top?

Using the chop cup as a normal receptacle & slightly gaffed card box, have the coin unique in their hand & with closed fist 'knock' on the deck. This would allow the gimmick to drop the coin into cup.

Edit if it's to exposur-fied for anyone.
