when talking about David Blaine you have to realise all his magic is easy to do. i am only 16 and i can do most of his tricks a few years ago. his tricks are simple and can be brought from any good magic shop at a fairly cheap price,
so Harry Houdini who stole his name from Robert Houdini is probably one of the best magicians. Specialy as for his time his magic was amazing.

i am a big fan of lance burton, it was after seeing one of his tv specials that i decided to get into magic, i just wanted to do the things i saw him doing on telly.

anyone else a fan of his work?

Last Christmas, I had the fortune of seeing Lance Burton's show in Las Vegas. I was already a fan but after seeing pure class and perfection in action, my opinion of him has grown enormously!

If anybody is visiting Vegas, book this show before you go to be on the safe side. You definitely will not regret it!

that must be a completely different experience to see him live

as with derren brown i would imagine as most of the stuff he does seems to be on the streets, i would be interested to see how he does on the stage, im also a big fan of his, his skills are pretty awesome

Put it this way... apart from the excellent sleight of hand and quality illusions, he closes his show with a Flying Car!! How about that for a stage effect?!

I don't think that anyone has mentioned the fantastic Michael Ammar yet... You only have to read and watch the books and videos that he has made in order to realise that he is a genius when it comes to magic. I am slowly collecting all of his published works and as you've probably guessed by now, I'm a big fan. It would seem that whether it's card, coin, itr etc that you're interested in, he can provide the knowledge for you to learn. If any of you have not seen any of his videos I strongly recommend that you take a look...

If you're new to magic - these guys are responsible for a lot of stuff, most of it is reworking old classics, but they've all got modern style... check them out!

I find ammar's tricks in general to be very good, he's just a bit too geeky for my liking, same with Ortiz, some great tricks but they are just boring.

Seige - since buying the green videos, he is one of my favourites, the top shot I will be practising for months before I use the move.

Ricky Jay - just awesome, wish someone would air his 52 assistants special sometime.

He's definately worth a look at if you're into contemporary card mag

How can you compare Dante, The Great Herrmann, Horace Goldin, Dai Vernon, Michael Ammar , Shoot Ogawa, The Pendragons, Paul Daniels, David Devant, Nate Leipzig, Okito,Coperfield, Doug Henning, Cardini and even, as someone described him,'dime store Harry' Houdini? Plus the long list of past and present legends. You can't. Simply enjoy them all. Magic is not a football match where you can compare such differing styles to one another.
